A post without too many words. My intention has been to wear something Halloweenesque without being a costume per se, something semi-creepy, but "fashionable"... something I like, and nothing more.

For this set of pictures I visited the Wretched Hollow sim. The first shot (the one with some sepia fogging) was taken in the shopping area, while the rest were shot in the lighthouse.

The suit is not a suit (the what?), but part of Hasendow's Doctor from Venice costume. I bought that some time ago because I liked the hat, but later learned it was linked to the mask. The piece is modifiable, so I could unlink the hat and wear it alone, yet I thought it looked too renaissance for my taste, so I went with Illusions' Carrol hat as a nice substitute. This top hat comes with many textures for both the hat and the band, which you can change with a click of the mouse, so there's no need to look this dark if you don't wish to (but I wanted to).

Yeah I know it's pretty early for Halloween. Yet, I had the time to work on this, so why wait and not post it right now? Halloween is just two weeks away, anyway. Won't go with all the details (hell, do your own search... it takes a lot of time, and Linden dollars, to put this all together; at least spend some time traveling the grid - LOL). There are things from Lauren Bentham, Brice Bonetto, Plant Carpenter, Star Fairymeadow, Alir Flow, Heather Goodliffe, Enktan Gully, Julia Hathor, Lilith Heart, Aylah Hope, vitrail Illios, hebi Jewell, Kriss Lehmann, Lyle Maeterlinck, mikatsuki Matova, Krius Misfit, nyasyousa Oh, masomaso Quan, Aki Shichiroji, GutterBlood Spoonhammer, Hamish Stuart, Damanios Thetan, and yours truly of course (there you have the names, now start searching).
When we SL dwellers blog, we tend to write down the name of the stores where we got the things we purchase, and forget about who is behind the brands. Well, those are the guys and girls behind Wretched Dollies, SiniStyle, Forest Feast, Plant's Garden of Earthly Delights, Botanical, to name just a few. Look into their profiles, learn a little about them, and then head to their Picks and Classified to get to their stores. Have fun.

Prim allowance is something we poor guys in SL fear the most (if anything else) because it put limits to what we can create that doesn't depends on us being online. I mean --as is my case-- sometimes, when doing a landscape, I have to come to a happy medium between what I want to do and what my parcel will allow me to rezz because every object I place within its confines will take a toll on the number of prims my plot can hold.
When dealing with SL flora, the most richly detailed trees are usually 30 prims and up. I always try to avoid those as much as possible (that's one of the compromises), but from time to time someone releases a new product that is too hard not to notice. That's been the case with Vitral Illios' recent "wares" for this Fall: the Aborea Autumn Feast trees. For a couple of days now I've tried to look another way, but temptation has finally made me buy a couple of these marvels. Pictured above and below is the basic orange variety, but there is also a redder ("dawn") and a greener ("dusk") one.

At 41 prims (and an extra prim for the shadow), you have to think twice before placing more than one out, but I think the colors, the Spanish moss and the hanging lights look awesome enough to justify the case. Available as no-copy but transferable, or copy but no-transfer (of course, prices vary). You can find these beauties and a lot more for both Autumn and Halloween at New Trails [slurl]. Hell, I forgot I took these pictures last night to do a brief posting before going to bed. But well, better now than never.
This floating mini-island is just a quick scenic set I came up with to take a few pictures of this nice looking trees from Uni Ninetails' Forest Floor Gardens & Dreamscapes. Though I'm not exactly a fan of her previous tree packs, number 10 and number 11 are freaking good. These 2-prim trees show well done textures that you can change to extend all year round. You just have to click the trunks to choose from 12 bark options, and the foliage to change among 7 leaf colors, including three for autumn: red, yellow or bare. This feature is standard in all her designs, which allows you buy only one set, plant according to your needs, and violà: you're done with landscaping for each of the four seasons in one easy step.
Uni doesn't give the trees any particular names, but pack #11 --the latest-- is apparently maple, while #10 can be anything with elliptic-shaped leaves. Both are pretty nice, so I couldn't help but get the two sets. The fact that they are also copyable is a big plus because, since they are 2-prim objects, you can easily fill a whole sim with them and have thousands of prims available for whatever else you want to build. Nevertheless, be aware that since they use sculpty prims, they may be slow to rezz under certain circumstances.
If you're one of the folks that love the amazing colors trees in temperate zones get during autumn, you should do a stop in Forest Floor. There's also a nice discount for residents of Victorian sims Caledon, Winterfell, Steelhead and Zeppelinheim.

On a side note: I also liked the trunks from the trees in pack number 9, but the leaves need some work. On another side note: the two guys in the first pic are me, in white, and Bierno Yoshikawa, from Bierno & Deeta, in shorts. Other elements in the pictures as follow:
Addendum: I forgot to mention that each tree pack comes with their corresponding shadows including scripted textures that you can also change according to the seasons, a copyable ray of sunlight or moonlight (tintable, btw), and a bunch of 1-prim flowers.
Have fun this autumn.

It's been quite some time since my last visit to the Wastelands. Though the Big Waste hasn't changed significantly in the last 16-18 months (just grown up some extra sims), I have lost quite a few inches of body mass, which used to fill a bigger body frame I don't carry anymore. Hence, my Wasteland outfit of yore doesn't fit me all that well these days. Yet, the items are still good enough as to deserve some blog exposure.

Details:
Outfit: TonkTastic - Extinction Outfit (black)
Mask: TonkTastic - The Respirator
Helmet: Grim Bros. - Drunken Porcupine
Weapon: BlindSpot - Ge Lance (not for combat)
